How Far Is The East From The West?

KNOWING JESUS CHRIST AS LORD

By Larry Kreider

TOPIC:  How Far Is The East From The West?

Psalm 103:12 tells us,

"As far as the East is from the West, so far has He removed our transgressions from us."

You can't get any farther than that!  When Jesus forgives us of our sins, He forgets them, no matter how bad they seem to be to us.  He washes us whiter than bleach could whiten us, and all the sin we've committed in the past is gone, forgotten, wiped spotless by His blood shed on the cross two thousand years ago.  1 John 1:7 tells us,

"But if we walk in the light as He is in the light, we have fellowship with one another and the blood of Jesus Christ His Son cleanses us from all sin."

When my dirty jeans are washed with detergent in the washing macine, they come out sportless.  The blood of Jesus is the most potent detergent in the universe.  It completely cleanses us from all sin.  And Jesus tells us that he who is forgiven for much, loves much (Luke 7:47).  Some say that they have made such terrible mistakes and sinned so horribly that God could never forgive them.  The truth is, when we see sin from God's perspective, everyone is forgiven for much.

QUESTIONS TO CONSIDER:

Read Psalm 103:12 and 1 John 1:7.  How far has the Lord removed our sins (transgressions) from us after we confess them and submit to Jesus?  When we walk (live our lives) in the light of His Word, what does the Lord promise us?  Have you been forgiven for much?  Explain.
