KNOWING JESUS CHRIST AS LORD By Larry Kreider A SOLID FOUNDATION Day 1: Knowing Him: Several years ago I worked on a construction crew building new houses. I learned that one of the first steps to building a new house is to put in a solid concrete foundation. If the foundation is faulty, everything else that is built on it will be ruined when the pressure comes. If the foundation is strong, the entire house will not be shaken by the wind and storms. The same principle applies to our spiritual lives. The basic foundation for our lives to be built on is Jesus Christ. We must know Him as Lord. Let's take some time to discuss what it means to know Jesus Christ as the Lord of our lives. John 17:3 tells us, "And this is eternal life, that they may know you, the only true God, and Jesus Christ whom you have sent." The Lord''s desire for us is to know Him personally. He desires to have a relationship with us. Imagine that! The creator of the universe wants to have a personal friendship and relationship with you! Many people know all about God, but they do not know Him personally. You may have read about the Queen of England and know much about her, but you may not know her personally. The Lord desires for us to know Him personally. A friend of mine was telling me about a neighbor who moved in next door. "This guy acted like God lived in the house with him," she exclaimed to her husband one day. She found out later that He really did, and she later also received Christ into her life and experienced a personal relationship with Jesus.
Questions to Consider: Read John 17:3. What is eternal life? What is God''s desire for you? Is it possible to know all about God but not really know Him? Explain. _____________________________________ _________________________________________________ _________________________________________________ _________________________________________________
