KNOWING JESUS CHRIST AS LORD By Larry Kreider A SOLID FOUNDATION Day 2: Our Closest Friend The Lord wants to be our closest friend. He wants to talk to you, just like He did with Adam and Eve, our first "parents" in the garden of Eden. In the same way a young couple needs to confess their commitment to one another at a marriage altar to begin their marriage relationship, we need to confess Jesus Christ as our Lord in order to begin our relationship with God. The Bible says in Romans 10:9, "If you confess with your mouth the Lord Jesus and believe in your heart that God has raised Him from the , you will be saved." Lord means: ruler, king, boss, one in complete control of our lives. You see, Jesus requires total commitment. He asks us to give everything completely to Him. His lordship is a foundation that we build our Christian lives on. Many people have a false understanding of what it means to be a Christian. Some people say, "I came from a Christian family" or "I live in a Christian nation" or "I've gone to church all of my life and somehow, because I've done all that, I'm a Christian." The truth is this: Jesus Christ must be the Lord, King, and Ruler of our lives. He has spoken to us through His Word, the Bible. We must base all of our decisions on His Word, and we must seek His will over our own will. Lordship entitles Jeus to be the Boss, the Master, the Final Authority of our lives, every minute of every day.
Questions to Consider: Read Romans 10:9. What does the Bible tell us to confess? What does "lord" mean? How does the Lord desire to be our closest friend? What is the first step towards this relationship? _____________________________________ ________________________________________________ ________________________________________________ ________________________________________________
