An Amazing Promise

KNOWING JESUS CHRIST AS LORD

Day 7:  An Amazing Promise

Just because we knew the Lord in a personal way in the past does not necessarily mean that we have a close relationship with Him today.  I was making a point of this truth while speaking at a public high school some time back.  I asked the students, "Do any of you still know your first grade teacher?"  I was startled when a in the back of the room raised her hand and said, "Sure I do.  She is my mother!"  The point was well taken.  She still had a relationship with her mother.  Do you have a vital relationship with your heavenly father today?  The Bible tells us,

"....if we draw close to Him, He will draw close to us"  (James 4:8)

Maybe you knew Jesus Christ in a personal way in the past, but you are far from Him today.  He is still there, waiting for you to come back to Him.  Life is like the game of chess.  Jesus has made a move and is now waiting for us to make the next move!  He is standing at the door of our lives and knocking, waiting for us to open the door of our lives and invite Him in.  Jesus said in the book of Revelation,

"I stand at the door and knock, and if anyone will hear my voice, and open the door, I will come in, and fellowship with him, and he with me"  (Revelation 3:20).

What an amazing promise!  Jesus wants to have a personal relationship with you today.  And when you open the door, He will come in.

Questions to Consider:

Read James 4:8.  If we draw close to Jesus, what does He promise to do?  Read Revelation 3:20.  Who is knocking at the door of our lives today?  What is the Lord waiting for us to do?  How will He respond?  Do you have a vital relationship with Jesus today?
