KNOWING JESUS CHRIST AS LORD By Larry Kreider Day 2: Slaves to God The Bible tells us in Romans 6:22, "But now having been set free from sin, and having become slaves of God, you have your fruit to holiness, and the end, everlasting life." Christians have become slaves to God. Everyone is a slave to something or someone. Some are slaves to themselves, a movie star, or a sports figure. Others are a slave to a certain way of dress, a life-style, or maybe their job. But God has called us to be slaves to Jesus Christ - the One who called us and loves us so much He gave His life for us. We choose to become slaves to Christ. A young lady in Philadelphia came out of a background where she was enslaved in prostitution and abuse for years. She surrendered her life to Jesus and wanted to serve Him. To remind herself that she was now a bond salve to Jesus, she decided to get her ear pierced and put an earring in the shape of a cross in her ear. She was no longer a slave against her own will; she had chosen to follow Jesus. She chose to be totally committed to Him. Salvation is a free gift from God, but when we receive this free gift, we have a responsibility to serve as slaves of the living God. But I count it a privilege to serve as a slave to the Lord, who gave His life for me on the cross two thousand years ago.
